A monthly meeting at Amboy was established in 1686 as part of Shrewsbury and Rahway Quarterly Meeting. It began to circulate to Woodbridge in 1689. This meeting was discontinued for a short period, due to the Keithian contoversy. In 1706, it was reestablished at Woodbridge. In 1763, the monthly meeting began to circulate between Plainfield, Rahway, and Woodbridge. Six years later it removed from Woodbridge and began to alternate between Rahway and Plainfield.
